“I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” – John 11:25-26
Jesus’ dialogue with Martha, the brother of Lazarus, is a central catechesis into the mystery of the Christian faith, a call to belief that stretches beyond life in the current state to a life that will extend into eternity. Jesus asks Martha if she believes that Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life through which all mankind must pass. This is the question each of us must answer for ourselves. Do you believe this?
Our faith demands an answer to this question. Let us seek like Martha, to go out to meet Jesus with all the anguish of our hearts, and find our response to this question. Like Martha, may we ‘come to believe’ in Jesus without question, that He is the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who comes to save the world.
May God bless you.
