As they were going they were cleansed. And one of them, realizing he had been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. Luke 17:14-16
Ten lepers encountered Jesus, and in their desperation, cried out for help , for healing. Jesus sent them along the way and only one of them, on realizing what had happened, came back to thank him.
It gives us pause to consider, how do we approach God? Are we like the nine lepers, who realize they are healed, hurry to the priest to be declared clean, and rush off their families and friends, forgetting to thank Jesus for the life-giving act of healing they received from him?
What a contrast to Hannah, who we read about in First book of Samuel, where she offers the child she desired back to God as an act of gratitude and sings a beautiful song of praise.
Do we show our gratitude toward God for the good gifts we receive?
May God bless you.
