“She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” – Luke 2:7
Jesus came into the world in all humility, and he would exit the world in all humility.
“…he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:8)
Placed in a feeding trough where the animals would feed, just as we would one day He would come to the ‘feeding trough’ of the Eucharist, where we are strengthened by His True Presence.
The fact there was no room for them at the inn is also symbolic, that at the end of His life, there would be no room for Jesus in the hearts of man; the only place he could lay his head was the Cross.
Let us take heed today of the signs of His presence around us, and, as He humbled himself for us, let us do the same for Him.
May God bless you.
