Day 77 – March 18

Today’s Readings:

Deuteronomy 13-14
Mark 15:26-47
Psalm 77

Those passing by reviled him, shaking their heads and saying, “Aha! You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, 30 save yourself by coming down from the cross.”. – Mark 15:29

Limitless love. That is what is on display every time we look at a crucifix. It is Love that refused to come down from the Cross. What message would Jesus have sent if he took the advice of the passers by, and came down from the cross? God’s love would have proven limited, that it was not prepared to suffer for men; that it would love only to a particular point, and no more.

But what happened by Jesus remaining on the Cross, pouring out his blood, suffering his full sacrifice of pain to the bitter, agonizing end. Jesus did not hold back his love. He gave all.

That is how God loves. There is nothing that Love is not willing to endure. God,  in his perfection, loves us without end.

May God Bless you.
